Required Credentials:
Any hit on your license must be disclosed. Hits will be sent to UVA leadership for approval prior to proceeding.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
Teaching hospital experience is preferred.
Special Requests:
Travelers are not eligible to return after reaching 365 total assignment days, regardless of time away.
Can approve 40 hours for time off.
Unit Details:
Fast-paced surgical and trauma critical care unit.
Patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
Surgical critical care includes postoperative patients after emergency or highly complex surgical procedures requiring continuous, intensive monitoring and interventions.
Trauma critical care includes patients with multisystem traumatic injuries from many different mechanisms.
Many patients in the STICU have multisystem conditions requiring critical care nurses to be highly competent and skilled in assessing and managing care while maintaining a high level of compassion.
Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2, with changes based on patient acuity.
Shift & Scheduling:
Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 hours.
Every other weekend; must work 2 out of the 3 winter holidays.
Floating Requirements:
Floating occurs as needed per hospital policy.
