Required Skills/Experience:
2 years of Level III or IV NICU experience.
Manager approval is required if Epic experience is more than a year old.
Required skills include IV placement; NG/OG feeding tube placement and management; UAC/UVC/PICC central lines; assisting with bedside procedures such as central line placements; following feed schedules; appropriate patient positioning; critical drips; admissions; and peripheral lab draws.
Special Requests:
RTO requests around holidays must be sent to the manager for approval.
Unit Details:
Patients are 23 weeks and above.
Common cases include respiratory distress, micro-premies, bubble CPAP/oscillator, drug and alcohol eat/sleep/console, observation and treatment for hypoglycemia, bili babies, and feeders/growers.
No surgical interventions or ECMO.
Patient ratios are 1:1-3 depending on acuity and may be up to 1:4 for feeders/growers.
Unit equipment includes Plum ICU Medical IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Angel Eye in the milk prep room, and Medfusion syringe pumps for fluids and feeds.
Shift & Scheduling:
Every other weekend.
No call.
Holiday expectations are every other holiday or 50% of holidays in the contract.
Up to 5 days of RTO may be approved.
Self-scheduling is available for preferred shifts, but the manager has final say; schedules are made in 6-week increments and released around 2 weeks before the beginning.
Overtime may be considered if requested, but is not guaranteed.
