Required Skills/Experience:

  • First-time travelers are not accepted.

Required Credentials:

  • Pass/fail RN skills exam on Friday during orientation; open-book exam on skills learned; must score 90% to pass.
  • You are required to pass a Basic Dysrhythmia/EKG exam during onboarding.

Special Requests:

  • Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained.
  • Cannot have worked at any CommonSpirit location within the last 12 months.
  • Cannot be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.
  • Cannot apply to more than one job order on the same unit and shift at the facility.
  • RTO must be submitted upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved after submission.

Unit Details:

  • Nurse:patient ratios: 1:1-2 ICU, 1:4 PCU.
  • Adult and pediatric patients older than 15 years; trauma ICU with frequent transfers and ED admits; common cases include trauma injuries, sepsis, stroke, ARDS, MODS, COPD, and cardiac arrest.
  • Titrates vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics.
  • Equipment and monitoring include CVP, IABP, Impella, A-lines, Swans, EV-1000, ICP monitoring, Zoll-Thermoguard, Bell Mont rapid transfuse, and care from nasal cannula to vents.
  • No monitor techs; uses Draeger heart monitoring with centralized telemetry monitoring, and RNs must read and interpret their own strips.
  • Patient care tech support ratio: 1:18.
  • Fast-paced unit with critically ill patients.

Shift & Scheduling:

  • Self-scheduling is managed by the manager based on unit needs.
  • 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period.

Floating Requirements:

  • Floats to inpatient units throughout the hospital, excluding Maternity and NICU.
