Travel Nurse (RN) - Step Down Unit

Required Skills/Experience:
No first-time travelers. Must have one successfully completed assignment.
Floating experience does not count toward experience requirement. Correctional facility experience does not count toward experience requirement.
Experience with amiodarone, cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, heparin, start nitro, and insulin drips required.
Travelers need to read tele strips.

Preferred Skills/Experience:
Experience with TAVR and CABG preferred.

Start dates are not flexible.
Travel pairs cannot request the same schedule.
Cannot have an employment gap in the past 4+ months.
Resume must include detailed duties, hospital size, unit size, trauma level if applicable, patient ratio, and whether the facility is a teaching facility. Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained.
At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you are applying to.

Unit Details:
Cardiac-focused PCU/intermediate care unit.
Common diagnoses/types of patients: CHF, NSTEMI, MI, heart block, pacer, TAVR, CABG day 2, post-cath patients after sheath pull, Watchman, bradycardia, VT, respiratory failure, low BP, low hemoglobin, sepsis, and post-surgical patients.
Nurse-patient ratios: days 1:4 and nights 1:5; could have some mixed MS and PCU patients. Ratio is 1:5 for all MS patients.
Charge nurse is typically free of assignment and may rarely take a couple of patients.
PCA support available; 8-12 patients per PCA, potentially less.
Cares for patients with BiPAP, high flow, and stable trachs.
Dedicated monitor tech on unit.
Core staff usually take TAVR and CABG cases.

Shift & Scheduling:
36-hour contracts only; can pick up additional shifts.
Schedule is made by charge to balance unit needs; traveler requests will be taken into consideration.
Weekend requirement: 4 weekend days per month for nights (Friday, Saturday, Sunday).
Holiday requirement: 3 of 5 holidays.

Floating Requirements:
Floating to ICU within patient population and to MS floors.
