Required Skills/Experience:

  • First-time RN travelers are accepted if they have greater than 2 years' experience.
  • PCU RNs must have cardiac and vasoactive drip titration; approval is required to offer without this experience.
  • PCU RNs must have cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV starts, blood product administration, CIWA, drain/tube management, indwelling and straight catheter insertion/management, insulin drips for DKA and non-DKA, continuous bladder irrigation, and chest tube maintenance.

Required Credentials:

  • Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing.

Special Requests:

  • You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit & shift at the same facility). Example: if you apply for day shift, you can also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit & facility.
  • Previous permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler.
  • RTO pending approval: 10.3 - 10.10.
  • The contract must be extended if unable to work a full week to accommodate a 13-week contract.
  • No RTO during the Sturgis Bike Rally (the first 3 weeks of every August).

Unit Details:

  • Patients are adults with a variety of diagnoses, including CHF, ARF, hepatitis, ESLD, DM, DKA, pneumonia, sepsis, GI bleed, syncope, chest pain, pulmonary emboli, respiratory failure, COPD, arrhythmias, seizure disorders, overdose, and delirium tremors.

  • On the sixth floor's cohorted Med/Surg area, the staffing model may pair an RN with an LPN; both take their own patient loads, with task swapping based on scope.
  • There is no IV/VAT team; peripheral phlebotomy is available 24/7, and RNs draw from central lines.
  • A Flex RN assists with admissions, discharges, transfers, and task items as staffing allows.
  • Respiratory therapy is available 24/7.
  • An in-house hospitalist is available 24/7, and most patients are followed by a hospitalist.
