Travel Nurse (RN) - Psychiatric Unit

Required Skills/Experience:

• Recent adult intensive/forensics experience in the last 3 months is required.
• Five years of experience as an RN is required (inpatient psychiatric experience must be within the last 3 months; LTC experience will not be accepted).

Required Credentials:

• Certifications are required to be included at time of submission.

Special Requests:

• RTO will not be approved in the first 2 weeks during orientation and cannot exceed 7 days.
• RTO is not approved on the following blackout dates: 11/2-11/6; 11/30-12/4; 11/25-11/30; 12/23-12/27; 12/31-1/1/27.
• Any scheduling requests must be presented in the submission file.
• Travelers are required to make up any missed shifts before the contract ends.
• Brattleboro is a very rural area with limited housing options and public transportation.

Unit Details:

• This is an adult intensive/forensics inpatient psychiatric unit serving acutely ill adult patients in a secure setting.
• The nurse works with a multidisciplinary team to identify individual and group needs and interventions.
• The nurse uses the nursing process to meet the needs of patients requiring complex nursing care.
• The nurse provides clinical supervision of mental health workers (MHWs) to support safe and therapeutic care.
• Patients have co-occurring substance-use and psychiatric disorders, including depression, bipolar disorder, and anxiety disorders, with a focus on sobriety and recovery.
• Unit care includes medically assisted drug and alcohol withdrawal, stabilization, and recovery education.
• Charge shifts are required as scheduled.

Shift & Scheduling:

• Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week.
• Every other weekend.
• Possible call.
