Unit Details: Patient population includes diabetic, CHF, COPD, GI bleed, renal failure, dialysis, overflow post-surgical, amputation, debridement, wound care, DVT, ETOH, and psych patients; hospice may be added in the future. Telemetry is monitored on a different unit; nurses are not required to read strips. Charge nurse does not typically take a patient assignment, but may take one if needed. CNA support is generally 1:12; CNAs may be pulled for 1:1s and sitters, though the unit tries to staff 1:8. Uses CPAP; BiPAP nights only. LPNs and LPN-Cs are used on the floor.
Shift & Scheduling: Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend. Holiday Requirement: Rotates with permanent staff. Flexible contract hours: 48 per week.
Floating Requirements: Must float to all acute care and cardio units to care for medical patients, or to EC for acute care patient holds.
Required Skills/Experience: Need to have experience with same type of hospital acuity, no CAH. Need experience at a larger organization with high acuity, high turnover and fast pace.
