Travel Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical Unit

References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to.

Required Skills/Experience:

• Must have prior experience working on a dedicated neuro unit.
• Must have heparin drip experience.

Special Requests:

• Block scheduling may be accommodated when staffing permits.
• Requested time off must be provided at submission.

Unit Details:

• Patient population includes stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head injury, other neuroscience cases, and some medical overflow.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 on day shifts and 1:5-6 on night shifts.
• RNs titrate drips on this unit.
• Heparin drips are titrated based on PTT.
• High-flow oxygen is used for stable COVID-19 patients, although this is very rare.
• House-wide telemetry is used; nurses do not need to read strips. Philips monitors are used.

Shift & Scheduling:

• Every other weekend is required; Saturday and Sunday are considered the weekend for both shifts.
• Every other holiday is required.
• No call.

Floating Requirements:

• Float in rotation with the rest of the staff. A general unit traveler floats to the general unit floor and takes a full team; if floated outside the general unit for an urgent need, they perform only skills within their competence and are assigned with a nurse trained for that unit.
