Travel Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department

• Charge experience preferred.

• Employment gaps over 90 days must be explained.
• Reliable transportation is required; a personal or rental vehicle is strongly recommended because public transportation is not accessible in this area.
• Vehicles should be equipped with all-season or snow tires from November through April.

Unit Details

• Patient ratios are 1:5 and may be higher based on volume; this is a very busy community ED with frequently changing census, and ratios may exceed 1:4.
• Patient population includes adult and pediatric ED patients, ranging from neonates to geriatric patients.
• RNs manage drips prepared by a pharmacy staffed 24/7.
• CA IIs are trained to perform straight sticks for labs and can assist with EKGs.
• RNs may perform straight sticks or draw from IVs, start their own IVs, and perform their own EKGs.
• IV therapy is available during certain hours to assist with difficult IV starts.
• RNs provide their own respiratory treatments.
• Equipment includes Philips MP40 monitors and Alaris IV pumps.
• Pyxis is the medication system.
• Respiratory and anesthesia support are available 24/7.
• Respiratory manages ventilators.
• RNs may be responsible for boarded, psychiatric, and COVID patients in their general assignment. Boarded patients may be med-surg, long-term care, psychiatric, waiting on admissions, or outsourcing.
• Critical-care patients are consistently moved quickly to the ICU.

Shift & Scheduling

• Travelers must work 2 out of the 4 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, and New Year's Day.
• ER RNs must work a minimum of every other weekend and/or have their schedules adjusted to meet the needs of the unit and patient care.
• Scheduling covers Monday to Sunday.
• The schedule is rotating.
• Self-scheduling is not available.
• No call.

• AUTO OFFER - NO INTERVIEW: This is an auto-offer position. You will likely not interview with the facility prior to receiving an offer. However, an interview can be arranged upon request. All time off requests must be submitted at application. Scheduling requests must be worked out with the manager directly upon starting the assignment. Any offers for this job will require a clear "Yes" or "No" response from the nurse within 24hrs or the offer must be declined.
