Required Skills/Experience: Must read and interpret strips. Float experience does not count toward the unit experience requirement.
Required Credentials: Upon accepting an offer, you will be assigned Relias exams that must be taken immediately (within 48hrs). If you fail the exam twice, this may result in an immediate pre-start cancellation by the facility.
Special Requests: All RTO must be given prior to assignment confirmation.
Unit Details: Population includes acute stroke management (ischemic, hemorrhagic, SAH, etc.), post-neurosurgical management (craniotomy, ventriculostomy, complex neuro-spine), seizure management (epilepsy, post-ictal, and pseudo-seizures), multiple sclerosis, and Guillain-Barre. Skills utilized include NIHSS, lumbar puncture assistance, arterial lines, central lines, tracheotomy patients, lumbar drains, IV start skills, peripheral lab draws, arterial blood draws, various intravenous drips including cardiac, insulin, and heparin, and cardiac monitoring. RN ratio 1:4 in pod format. Patients are placed based on acuity. The acuity of this intermediate unit is comparable to an ICU unit at smaller facilities.
