References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you are applying to.

Required Credentials:

  • Open-book skills exam on Friday during orientation; minimum 90% required to pass.
  • You are required to pass a Basic Dysrhythmia/EKG exam during onboarding.

Special Requests:

  • Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained.
  • Cannot have worked at any CommonSpirit location within the last 12 months.
  • Cannot apply to more than one job order on the same unit and shift at the facility.
  • Limited block scheduling may be approved.
  • RTO must be submitted upfront; 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract. Additional RTO will not be approved after submission.

Unit Details:

  • Med/Surg/Tele orthopedic and trauma population including joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbations, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, GI bleeds, pneumonia, and failure to thrive.
  • Titrates heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine; uses PCA pumps.
  • Tele techs interpret strips; RNs should have telemetry awareness.
  • Mechanical lifts available in every other room.
  • Multiple discharges and admissions may occur in one day.
  • Serves a culturally diverse patient population, including Spanish-, Karen-, and Burmese-speaking patients.

Shift & Scheduling:

  • Travelers will be scheduled.
  • Typically every other weekend, though additional coverage may be needed based on department demand. Schedules are posted 6 weeks in advance, with manager adjustments as needed.
  • 2-3 holidays from Thanksgiving to New Year's.

Floating Requirements:

  • Float to other medical-surgical areas or units with Med/Surg patients waiting for a Med/Surg bed.
