Required Skills/Experience: First-time travelers must have 2 years of perm staff RN experience in acute care.
Preferred Skills/Experience: Levophed titration preferred.
Required Credentials: Must pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance prior to arrival.
Special Requests: Travelers must be separated for 1 year if previously perm staff. Up to 7 days of RTO; must extend contract for any full week of RTO. May only request 1 weekend of RTO per 13-week contract.
Unit Details: Patient types include respiratory failure, sepsis, stroke, DKA, s/p heart cath, and s/p aortogram/arteriogram. RN ratio: 1:3. Required skills include CVL management/placement, foley catheter management, tube feedings via NGT or PEG, arterial lines, diabetes management, and drip titration with Amiodarone, Cardizem, and insulin. Charge nurse takes a patient assignment; no phlebotomy on the unit; IV/VAT team handles PICC/midline placement; resource nurse available depending on staffing; RT and hospitalist available 24/7; OT, PT, and ST available. Uses Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing.
Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend. Mandatory 4 days one week and 3 days the next week. May work 3/2 or 5/2 rotations, for example: 2 on, 2 off; 5 on, 5 off. No call. Will work 2/3 major holidays.
Floating Requirements: Float to Stroke unit and Med Surg (1:5-6); could float frequently.
