Additional Information

Artificial nails are not allowed for any travelers. Failure to adhere could result in being sent home and/or terminated if policy is not followed. If candidate worked a permanent position in the last 12 months, 1 reference must be from that facility. At least 1 reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job being applied to.

Required Skills/Experience: 2-3 years of experience in the specialty is required, as well as 2-3 previous travel assignments. Ortho experience required. Must have experience passing the arms in and out for robotics. Must have experience with all specialties for evening/night shift; only RN overnight with 2 techs.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Scrubbing experience is a plus for RNs.

Special Requests: Cannot apply to more than 1 position at a time across the entire WVU system. Travel teams must be submitted together. Previous permanent employees must have been away for 2 years. Previous travelers who were there for 1 full year must have been away for 2 years. Eligibility as current/previous employee: cumulative experience applies for previous travelers. Block scheduling will be allowed if it meets the needs of the unit.

Unit Details: Common cases include general, ENT, eyes, ortho, robotics with Da Vinci and Rosa, neuro/spine (burr holes, VP shunts, ventrics, laminectomies, discectomies, fusions, TLIF, ALIF, nerve stimulators), total joints, shoulders, hips, knees, ORIF, external fixators, scopes, sports medicine, podiatry, hands, open fractures, trauma, vascular (AV fistulas, carotids, angiograms, fem-pops; no AAAs), pediatric dental and ENT with rare ortho fractures, and emergent cases such as appendectomies, stabbings, and cranis. All surgical cases except CVOR; L&D covers C-sections. Travelers rotate through charge, and charge nurses may circulate cases if needed. No aides or housekeeping; techs are responsible for turning over rooms. OR staff is almost all travelers.

Shift & Scheduling: One weeknight on-call 7p-7a; rotation varies. One weekend 24 hours on-call 7a-7p per month. Holiday call rotation as needed. Call response time: 30 minutes; if more than 30 minutes away while on call, they are required to stay.

Floating Requirements: Float to outpatient surgery as needed.
