Required Skills/Experience: Experience with vented patients, trachs, chest tubes, critical drip maintenance, central line maintenance, art lines, wound care, wound vacs, drains, cardiac rhythm interpretation, PIV starts, and NG tube insertion/maintenance.
Unit Details: Adults only. Medical ICU patients include sepsis, DKA, strokes, CIWA, respiratory/kidney/liver failure, GI bleeds, surgical patients, CHF, and COPD. No cardiothoracic or high-level neuro surgeries. ICU draws its own labs. Charge nurse can take patients if needed but usually does not; charge RN is part of the rapid response/code team.
Shift & Scheduling: Weekend rotation: 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule; may be Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. No call. Holiday expectations: 50% of holidays during the contract. Schedule cycle: 6-week schedules.
Floating Requirements: Could float to other areas to care for ICU or PCU patients. Typically does not float to MedSurg, but it is within the realm of possibility. Floating is in rotation with staff.
