Artificial nails are not allowed for any travelers. Failure to adhere could result in being sent home and/or terminated if policy is not followed.

If candidate worked a perm facility in the last 12 months, 1 reference must be from perm facility.

Eligibility as Current/Previous Employee: cumulative experience applies for previous travelers.

References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Peritoneal dialysis experience highly preferred.

Special Requests: Staff may submit up to 6 requests off per 6-week schedule.

Unit Details: Ratios 1:6-7, mostly 1:7 for both day and night shift. Charge nurse takes a full patient assignment; a clinical assistant is available 40 hours/week and splits time between the floor and the office. Usually 4-6 CNAs per shift; CNA ratios 1:10-12. Remote telemetry as needed, monitored on a different unit. RNs are not required to read strips; if they have experience reading strips, they may also read them. Drips: Heparin; very rare Lasix but not continuous; PCAs with MSO4; maybe an Ativan gtt; no cardiac gtts or insulin. Vents: Bipap (intermittent only), Cpap, High Flow. RNs assess their patients' IV sites but do not start their own IVs on this unit; the IV team starts all IVs. PICC team in-house. Uses Pyxis. Patient population includes ortho post-ops, basic neuro post-ops (laminectomies, discectomies, spinal fusions), general post-ops (gallbladders, mastectomies, sleeve gastrectomies), infections, COPD, CP, pneumonia, and cellulitis. Hemodialysis is on this floor. Patients being tested for COVID usually remain on this unit unless results will take longer, then they transfer to the COVID unit.

Shift & Scheduling: Every-other-weekend (3 weekends out of a 6 week schedule); nights work Fri/Sat. Work into the holiday rotation schedule.

Floating Requirements: Float to other MedSurg and MedSurg/Oncology units. Could possibly float to IMC but would be assigned MedSurg overflow. No gtts.
