Required Skills/Experience: Should be able to interpret and act on patient rhythms; uses Phillips telemetry monitors. Must be proficient with vasopressor drips and titration, cardiac drips, and antihypertensive drips.

Preferred Skills/Experience: SANE RN experience preferred. Teaching hospital experience preferred.

Required Credentials: ENPC may be accepted in place of PALS. TNS may be accepted in place of TNCC.

Special Requests: Block scheduling may be accommodated, including 2-on/4-on patterns or up to 6 shifts in a row when possible. Holiday requirements are every other or based on department needs and are negotiable based on contract requests.

Unit Details: Level 1 trauma ED caring for patients from newborns to the elderly, with presentations ranging from minor complaints to critically ill patients, including cardiac arrest, strokes, heart attacks, and Level 1/2 trauma patients. Travelers may care for trauma patients after stabilization and transfer from the trauma bay but are unlikely to be assigned as the primary trauma-bay nurse. Uses vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen equipment with respiratory therapist support. Nurses and ED techs draw labs; phlebotomy may draw labs for boarded patients.

Shift & Scheduling: No day/night rotating shifts. Every other weekend on a rotation. No call requirement for travelers.

Floating Requirements: If floated to other units, ED nurses serve as help-all staff only and are not expected to take a team; floating is rare and typically not assigned to travelers.
