Unit Details: Adult burn patient population. Burn patients with 0-100% TBSA burns. Patients have physical therapy needs related to pain, surgical dressings, mobility, and positioning to help prevent contractures and scarring. Up to 8 patients per day on the unit, with 8 being the higher census for the cooler months and as few as 2. Outpatient PT assists with evaluations and therapy if time allows. Anesthesia monitoring is used for full takedowns, allowing PT/OT to fully range patients when pain is a limiting factor. Daily rounds with active involvement and input from the therapy team. Every Tuesday multidisciplinary meetings allow PT/OT to discuss plan of care in more depth and plan for disposition. Small family-oriented unit.
Shift & Scheduling: You must be willing to float, work weekends, and generally just be very flexible. Candidates must work Saturday and Sunday in the burn unit, and then can pick up 3 other shifts between Monday - Friday. Every weekend and 1 day during the week will vary.
Floating Requirements: Must be able to float inpatient.
Preferred Skills/Experience: Teaching Hospital Experience.
