Required Skills/Experience:
Experience with post-procedural cath lab patients, management of TR Band compression devices, management of chest pain, and post-cardiac-surgical patients is required.

Unit Details:
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 on days through 2300 and 1:5-6 on nights after 2300.
The patient population includes cardiac medical and surgical patients, including post-cath-lab patients with stents, pacemakers, ICDs, Watchman devices, MitraClip and TAVR procedures, and post-cardiac-surgery patients with CABG and valve replacements, as well as patients with atrial fibrillation, chest pain, CHF, arrhythmias, syncope and bradycardia requiring temporary pacemakers.
RNs titrate drips; no vasopressors are used.
Common titratable and set-rate drips include nitroglycerin, heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone, Lasix, Bumex and dobutamine.
A 24/7 central telemetry unit monitors all non-critical-care patients and reads the strips.
Respiratory therapy handles nebulizers and inhalers and assists with CPAP, BiPAP and Vapotherm (high flow); RNs are responsible for incentive spirometry.

Shift & Scheduling:
Every other weekend and holiday.
A Friday/Saturday/Sunday schedule option is available.
No self-scheduling.
No call unless it is an extra shift.

Floating Requirements:
Floating is required as needed based on unit census.
