Travel Nurse (RN) - Dialysis Unit

Required Skills/Experience:
1 year of inpatient dialysis experience is required.
First-time travelers must have 2 years of permanent staff RN experience in acute care.
Peritoneal dialysis experience is not required.

Required Credentials:
Travelers must pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance before arrival (includes Med/Surg RN).

Special Requests:
Auto insurance is required.
Travelers must be able to travel between facilities.
Travelers must have been separated for 1 year if previously permanent staff.
Any full week of RTO requires an assignment extension.
Only 1 weekend off may be requested per 13-week contract.

Unit Details:
Patients include hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis cases.
RN work includes accessing fistulas and dialysis catheters.
Dialysis uses B. Braun machines, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing.

Floating Requirements:
Travelers primarily report to WKMC (WK North) and frequently float to Bossier, Pierremont, and South.
Float assignments are communicated the day before for the following day.
WKMC (WK North), Bossier, Pierremont, and South are all within 15-30 minutes of one another.

Shift & Scheduling:
The schedule alternates between 4-12s one week and 3-12s the next week; this schedule is mandatory.
The schedule cycle is 4 weeks.
Shifts run Monday through Saturday, with windows of 8a-8p or 10a-10p.
Weekend rotation is every other weekend, with Fri/Sat/Sun as the goal.
Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved.
Call requirement is 5-6 call shifts per 4-week schedule, with each call shift lasting 12 hr.
Each 12 hr shift and 12 hr call are completed on the same day.
Three people are on call per night, based on the facility being covered.
Sunday is a 24 hr call day.
Sunday call is the same on every schedule; the 1st Sunday is always 1st.
The unit is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
The holiday schedule includes the Sunday before or after holidays.
Minor holidays are regular days.
The clinician will work 2/3 holidays.
