Additional Information

Required Skills/Experience:
1 year of inpatient psych experience required.
A mix of psychiatric and acute-care pediatric experience, or experience working with autistic patients, will be considered.
Some experience working with adolescent/pediatric patients is required.
Required skills include comfort with redirection and de-escalation, assisting with activities of daily living, rounding every 7.5 minutes, acting as a 1:1 sitter, participating in physical holds using the least restrictive measure for the situation, and obtaining EKGs as needed.

Required Credentials:
Roles requiring state licensure only: License should not expire within 45 days following start date.
MOAB will be obtained on site.

Special Requests:
Housing in ME becomes more expensive in the summer months, beginning in May. Be sure to confirm you are comfortable with housing options before applying.
RTO requests must go through the manager for approval.
You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit & shift at the same facility). Example: if you apply for day shift, you can also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit & facility.

Unit Details:
Patients are medically cleared, and lines, drains, and tubes are not typical.
The patient population is primarily adolescents and pediatric patients, ages 5-18; admissions may be involuntary or voluntary.
Common patient presentations include autism, self-mutilation and harm, depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, gender dysphoria, trauma and sexual trauma, and anger.
The unit uses paper documentation.
Unit equipment includes seclusion rooms and chair restraints.
Security does not respond to patient escalations; staff from all six units, including techs and nurses, respond to patient escalations.

Shift & Scheduling:
The first week is Monday-Friday orientation, and normal shifts begin in the second week.
Weekend rotation is every other weekend and is predetermined.
No call.
Holiday work is expected in rotation.
The schedule uses modified self-scheduling: travelers sign up for preferred shifts, and the manager/scheduler reviews coverage and adjusts assignments as needed to ensure all shifts are covered. Travelers who do not sign up during the designated period are automatically assigned vacant shifts.

Floating Requirements:
Must be willing to float between pediatric and adult units as needed.

Pre-employment modules may be required for this role. Please upload any certifications or health documents you have to your profile to expedite your on-boarding process.
