Required Skills/Experience: Aseptic and sterile techniques, basic dressing changes, ventilator and trach management, suctioning, G-tube/J-tube management, feeding tubes, chest tubes, epidurals, PCAs, drip management, Foley insertion and management, and discharge skills.
Preferred Skills/Experience: CRRT experience with Prismax preferred. CICU experience preferred.
Required Credentials: If you have a multistate license, you will be required to complete a 1-time 6-hour suicide prevention training according to WA state regulations.
Special Requests: Any RTO or special requests not included on your application will not be considered. You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit and shift at the same facility). Example: if you apply for day shift, you can also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit and facility.
Unit Details: Cares for respiratory patients including high flow, CPAP, BiPAP, trachs, RSV, asthma, and COVID; medical patients including MIS-C, new onset diabetes with insulin drips, chronically ill patients, and oncology; trauma patients; congenital heart defect patients from surgery through discharge; and surgical patients including appendectomies, G-tubes, ENT, fresh trachs, bowel obstructions, broken bones, VP shunts, cardiac, and neuro cases. Stat categories 1, 2, 3, and occasionally 4. Does not take solid organ transplant, major burn, or stem cell transplant patients. During COVID surge tier 3, may provide care up to age 30 in rare circumstances. Bad facial wounds, eye injuries, and penetrating trauma go to Harborview. ECMO specialists manage the ECMO machine. Travelers may take CRRT patients if they have previous experience and train with the Prismax; low unit volume means CRRT patients are more likely to go to core staff. May see mixed neuro, cardiac, respiratory, surgical, and medical overflow between MedSurg and PICU.
Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend rotation. Shift times: 0700-1900 or 1900-0700.
Floating Requirements: Float to MedSurg, ED, or NICU as helping hands or constant observer.
