Unit Details: Mixed adult and pediatric unit; the adult/pediatric census varies and there may be more adult than pediatric patients. Clinicians care for both adult and pediatric patients. Common adult diagnoses include MRSA, C-diff infections, COPD, pneumonia, COVID, and telemetry chest pain. Common pediatric diagnoses include respiratory illnesses (RSV, influenza, COVID), chronic seizures, dehydration, appendectomy, and failure to thrive. Pediatric patients are med-surg level; if status changes, they are transferred out. No feeding tubes, trachs, or vents; clinicians will assist with stabilization for transfer as needed. No titratable drips. Uses high flow to stabilize for transfer and cares for stable adult patients needing BiPAP for chronic conditions.
