If candidate worked a perm facility in the last 12 months, 1 reference must be from perm facility.

Required Skills/Experience:
Eligibility as Current/Previous Employee: cumulative experience applies for previous travelers.

Special Requests:
Staff are allowed 4 requested days off per month.

Unit Details:
The unit uses the Sunrise EMR.
The goal nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4; ratios usually run 1:5 and can occasionally reach 1:6.
Telemetry monitors are Nihon Kohden. Telemetry technicians are available, but RNs must read and interpret their own strips.
RNs must be able to titrate amiodarone, Cardizem, dopamine, dobutamine, labetalol, nitro, and heparin; Lasix is used occasionally.
Respiratory therapy is in-house 24/7 and manages all respiratory equipment, including AirVo high-flow and Respironics BiPAP.
Hospitalist coverage is in-house 24/7; an intensivist is in the ICU 24/7; a resident is also in-house 24/7.
An IV team and PICC/midline team are in-house 24/7; the IV team performs all IV starts.
Pharmacy is in-house 24/7, with Pyxis available.
Patients include chest pain, rule-out MI, CHF, arrhythmias, post-pacemaker and pre/post-cardiac catheterization cases, as well as overflow patients requiring intermediate-care acuity. Care includes managing radial bands and removing them but not pulling sheaths, performing groin checks, and occasionally managing chest tubes; patients also receive Tikosyn therapy.

Shift & Scheduling:
Night-shift clinicians must be on the unit and ready to work by 6:45 p.m.
Self-scheduling is allowed as long as the needs of the unit are met.
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are considered weekend shifts. Night-shift clinicians must work 4 weekend night shifts per 4-week schedule.
Travelers must be flexible to work holidays if needed; they typically do not work many holidays because perm staff usually cover them.

Floating Requirements:
All staff are required to float as needed in rotation to Telemetry or Med-Surg, with ratios up to 1:6 and possibly 1:7 in Med-Surg (not common).
