Required Skills/Experience: 2 years recent ICU experience required.
Special Requests: Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained. Cannot apply to more than one job order on the same unit and shift at the facility. Must disclose previous employment on your resume or elsewhere within the submission for a DNU check. Cannot be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI or Dignity. RTO must be submitted upfront; 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract. Additional RTO will not be approved after submission.
Unit Details: Patient ratios: 1:1-2 in ICU, 1:4-5 in PCU, and 1:5-6 in Med Surg. Adult and pediatric patients older than 15 years old. Common diagnoses and patient types include neurosurgery with thrombectomy program, respiratory failure, ARDS, MODS, sepsis, stroke, cardiogenic shock, renal failure, general surgery, psych/overdose, GI bleeds, and cancer surgeries including esophagectomy. Uses internal chemo administration, CVPs, A-lines, Swans, EV-1000, ICP monitoring, Zoll Thermoguard for hypothermia protocol, and Bell Mont rapid transfuser. Experience with thrombectomy program, Impella, balloon pump, renal failure/CRRT, CVPs, A-lines, Swans, EV-1000, and ICP monitoring is not required; real-time training is available. Nurses titrate drips including vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics. Charge nurse is present on each shift and attends RRTs and codes. Cares for patients from nasal cannula to vents. No monitor techs; nurses read and interpret their own telemetry strips using Draeger heart monitoring with centralized telemetry monitoring. Fast-paced unit with volume flexes as the system's primary tertiary hospital; collaborates with attendings, fellows, residents, and student providers.
Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend. Holiday requirements: 2 out of 3 major holidays, every other, or as needed based on unit needs. Schedule is made by the manager based on unit needs.
Floating Requirements: Will float to all inpatient units, excluding Maternity and NICU.
