Unit Details: Treats infant through geriatric inpatients and outpatients with speech, language, oral/pharyngeal, and sensory-motor disorders. Includes direct evaluation and treatment, patient/family education, progress notes and discharge summaries, physician and interdisciplinary reporting, billing/coding, and pre-authorizations. May travel to various service locations. Assists with daily operations of speech-language pathology services, including scheduling, productivity logs, equipment/supply management, and administrative projects. May precept new employees and teach/evaluate students. Uses audiometer, formal tests, tape recorders, dictaphones, and patient-related software programs.
