Travel Nurse (RN) - Nurse Management

Required Skills/Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of management, director, or DON acute care experience is required.
• Familiarity with EMTALA and state and federal regulations is required.
• Must be comfortable being hands-on and helping on the floor and in the ER when needed, including helping with codes and mixing medications.
• Understanding of trauma coordination, case management, and budget planning/management is required.
• Familiarity with union contracts is required.

Unit Details:

• The assignment consists mostly of DON duties with varied responsibilities.
• Average daily census is 1.2 inpatients and 9 ER patients.
• Patient population includes COPD exacerbation, diabetes, behavioral health, chest pain, URI, UTI, trauma, and stroke across all age groups.
• Inpatient RN ratio is 1:4; ER nurses rotate, with no designated ER nurse.
• No respiratory therapist is on site; respiratory therapy duties are part of nursing responsibilities.
• The lab is on call after hours.
• Hospitalist coverage is available 24/7; two physicians rotate, with daytime rounds and nighttime call.
• Midlevel providers and paramedics support the ER.
• A remote pharmacist comes on site twice per month, and a pharmacy technician performs daily checks.
• The EMR includes Oracle.
• Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Mindray monitors.

Shift & Scheduling:

• The schedule is Monday-Friday, and other flexible schedules are open for discussion.
• Weekend rotation is most likely not required unless major staffing issues occur.
• No formal call is required, but the clinician must be available by phone on nights and weekends unless on vacation; AOC is on call at all times as well.
• No holiday coverage is expected unless a staffing crisis occurs.
• Staff self-schedule.
