Additional Information

Artificial nails are not allowed for any travelers. Failure to adhere could result in being sent home and/or terminated if policy is not followed.

Required Skills/Experience: 2-3 years of experience in the specialty is required. 2-3 previous travel assignments required. Ortho experience required. Must have experience passing the arms in and out for robotics.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Scrubbing experience is a plus.

Special Requests: Can only apply to 1 position at a time across the WVU system. Previous permanent employees must have been away for 2 years. Previous travelers there for 1 full year must have been away for 2 years. Travel teams must be submitted together. Block scheduling may be allowed if it meets the needs of the unit. If candidate worked a perm facility in the last 12 months, 1 reference must be from perm facility. Eligibility as Current/Previous Employee: cumulative experience applies for previous travelers. References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to.

Unit Details: Common cases include general, ENT, eyes, ortho, robotics (Da Vinci and Rosa), neuro spine, burr holes, VP shunts, ventrics, laminectomies, discectomies, fusions, TLIF, ALIF, nerve stimulators, total joints, shoulders, hips, knees, ORIF, ex fix, scopes, sports medicine, podiatry, hands, open fractures, trauma, and vascular cases including AV fistulas, carotids, angiograms, fem-pops, and BKA; no AAAs. Peds cases are mostly dental and ENT with rare ortho fractures. Emergent cases include appy, stabbings, and cranis. All surgical cases except CVOR; L&D covers C-sections. Travelers may rotate through charge and circulate cases if needed. No aides or housekeeping; techs are responsible for room turnover. OR staff is almost all travelers.

Shift & Scheduling: No self-scheduling for travelers. One weeknight on-call 7p-7a; rotation varies. One weekend 24 hours on-call 7a-7p per month. Holiday call rotation as needed. 30-minute call response time; if more than 30 minutes away while on call, must stay nearby.

Floating Requirements: May float to outpatient surgery as needed.
