Additional Details:

Artificial nails are not allowed for any travelers. Failure to adhere could result in being sent home and/or terminated if policy is not followed.

Special Requests:

  • 50-mile radius rule applies.
  • If candidate worked a perm facility in the last 12 months, 1 reference must be from the perm facility.
  • Eligibility as current/previous employee: cumulative experience applies for previous travelers.
  • At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to.

Unit Details:

  • Nurse-patient ratios: 1:5-7 on days, 1:6-8 on nights.
  • Common diagnoses/patient population: pneumonia, UTI, AMS, GI bleed, alcohol withdrawal, falls/weakness.
  • RNs titrate heparin, bumex, and lasix drips; no cardiac drip titration.
  • Respiratory therapy administers breathing treatments, inhalers, ABGs, and manages BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow O2; RNs are typically responsible for monitoring only.
  • Monitor techs monitor telemetry and call with issues; nurses are not expected to read or interpret telemetry.

Shift & Scheduling:

  • Rotating 7-7 day/night shifts; schedules are generally arranged so days and nights are not worked in the same week, usually 2 weeks of days followed by 2 weeks of nights.
  • No self-scheduling; schedule is manager-created, and travelers are expected to be flexible to help fill gaps in the permanent schedule.
  • Every other weekend.
  • Holiday rotation as needed.
  • No call.

Floating Requirements:

  • Floating and shift pull rotation. May be floated to any other MS, MS-Tele, or IMC for lower acuity patients on the floor.
