Travel Nurse (RN) - Post Anesthesia Care Unit

Artificial nails are not allowed for any travelers. Failure to adhere could result in being sent home and/or terminated if policy is not followed.

Required Skills/Experience: Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips.

Special Requests: If candidate worked a perm facility in the last 12 months, 1 reference must be from the perm facility. Cumulative experience applies for previous travelers. At least 1 reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to.

Unit Details: Works across inpatient PACU/recovery room, outpatient PACU/recovery room, surgery center, and anesthesia clinic. All 4 areas have a blend of Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery. Recovers all cases except open hearts, which go straight to the ICU. Recovers general, neuro, thoracic, cath lab intervention, radiology, and simple procedure cases. ICU patients recover in PACU, with the exception of open hearts. Uses Sunrise and Pyxis. Each area has its own charge nurse, and charge nurses take a patient assignment. UA2s are on each side and are cross-trained as nurse aides and unit receptionists.

Shift & Scheduling: Shift options include 8-6, 9-7, and possible 10-8. Weekend call is 1 24-hour weekend call shift per month from 7am-7am. Holiday call rotation with permanent staff; holiday call coverage is 24 hours from 7am-7am. Weekly call requirement is 2 additional overnight call shifts per month from 11pm-7am. Start times vary. Up to 4 schedule requests per schedule; flexibility depends on unit needs. Expected to stay until cases are done for the day.

Floating Requirements: PACU RNs will work both inpatient and outpatient sides and can also work in the surgery center and anesthesia clinic. Eventually they will be moving to one big area and everyone will be able to do both pre- and post-op.
