Required Skills/Experience:

  • Critical care experience required.
  • Minimum 1 prior travel contract.
  • 300+ bed experience required.
  • Must have intubation experience and be comfortable being first line for intubations.
  • Must be able to work adult ICU, manage vents, read ABGs, and alert critical values.
  • For floor assignments, minimum 1 year experience; for critical care assignments, minimum 2 years.

Required Credentials:

  • NRP required for NICU assignments.

Special Requests:

  • Strict 75-mile radius rule.

Unit Details:

  • RTs are first line for intubations during codes; hospitalist support responds to codes.
  • Average workload is 550 treatment minutes per shift, about 15 minutes per treatment, with 13-15 patients per shift.
  • Adult assignments may include pediatric through adult patients; NICU RTs are separate from adult assignments.
  • Duties include nebs, airway management, Vapotherm, BiPAP, CPAP, vents, ABG collection, bedside PFTs, CPT, blood gas management, intubation, bronchs, and A-line placement in ICU.
  • Uses Servo vents (U and I models).
  • Common patient populations and disease processes include COPD, CHF, pneumonia, respiratory failure, ARDS, and cancers.
  • ICU assignments can include up to 4 airways per therapist.
  • May run charge and clinical coordinator duties.

Shift & Scheduling:

  • Fri-Sun schedule.
  • Night shifts start at 6:45 pm; can clock in 6:38-6:46 pm, otherwise late.
  • Holidays are rotated with permanent staff; every other holiday can be expected.
  • No call.
