Required Skills/Experience: 2 years recent ICU experience required.
Required Credentials: You are required to pass a Basic Dysrhythmia/EKG exam during onboarding. Pass/fail exam on Friday during orientation; open-book exam on skills learned; must receive a 90% to pass.
Special Requests: Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained. Cannot have worked at any CommonSpirit location within the last 12 months. Cannot be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI or Dignity. Cannot apply to more than one job order on the same unit and shift at the facility. RTO must be submitted upfront; 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract. Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submission.
Unit Details: Nurse-to-patient ratios: ICU 1:1-2, PCU 1:4-5, MS 1:5-6. Adults and pediatric patients >15 years old. Common diagnoses/cases include neurosurgery with an initiating neuro interventionalist thrombectomy program, respiratory failure, ARDS, MODS, sepsis, stroke, cardiogenic shock, renal failure, general surgery, psych/OD, GI bleeds, and cancer-specific surgeries including esophagectomy. RNs titrate drips including vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics. The unit may see thrombectomy, Impella, balloon pump, and CRRT cases; prior experience with these is not required. Additional equipment/procedures include internal chemo administration, CVPs, A-lines, Swans, EV-1000, ICP monitoring, Zoll Thermogard for hypothermia protocol, and Bell Mont rapid transfuser; some items can be trained in real time. Charge nurse is present each shift and attends RRTs and codes. RNs care for patients from nasal cannula to vents. No monitor techs; uses Draeger heart monitoring with centralized telemetry monitoring, and RNs read and interpret their own strips. Fast-paced tertiary referral unit with volume flexes; collaborates with attendings, fellows, and residents.
Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend. Holiday requirements: 2 out of 3 major holidays, every other, or as needed based on unit needs. Schedule is made by the manager based on unit needs.
Floating Requirements: Will float to all inpatient units, excluding Maternity/NICU.
