Travel Allied (Surgical Assistant) - Operating Room

Artificial nails are not allowed for any travelers. Failure to adhere could result in being sent home and/or terminated if policy is not followed.

If candidate worked a perm facility in the last 12 months, 1 reference must be from perm facility.

References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to.

Required Skills/Experience:
2-3 previous travel assignments are required.
Experience and proficiency assisting in orthopedics are required.

Preferred Skills/Experience:
Ortho/Neuro experience is preferred.

Required Credentials:
One of the following certifications is required: CSFA through NBSTSA, CSA through NCCSA, or SA-C through ABSA.
Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Assistant program.

Special Requests:
Eligibility as Current/Previous Employee: cumulative experience applies for previous travelers.
Previous perm candidates must be gone for 2 years.
Previous travelers there for 1 full year must be gone for 2 years.
They will allow block scheduling if it meets the needs of the unit.

Unit Details:
Average 28 cases/day with 5 add-ons, including SDS cases.
Common case types include all surgical cases except open heart, with many neuro spine, total joints, open fractures, general, and ENT cases. Vascular cases are not currently performed but are expected to begin in August.

Shift & Scheduling:
M-F schedule.
Shift may be 8s, 10s, or 12s.
No self-scheduling for travelers.
Call is 1 x 12hr shift per week with possibility of additional if needed and 1 x 24hr (can be split into 2 x 12hr shifts) call shift per month for weekends.
Weekday call shifts are 7p-7a or 7p-11p; weekend call shifts can be 7a-7p, 7p-7a, 7p-11p, and 7a-7a.
Weekends are anywhere from 12-24 hours due to having 2 teams on call.
Weeknights can be 7-11, 11-7 or 7-7; the schedule varies.
Holiday call coverage is as needed.
Call response time is 20 minutes; if you are more than 20 minutes away while on call, you are required to stay.

Floating Requirements:
Float to outpatient surgery as needed.
