Required Skills/Experience:
RN must be able to circulate the listed case types.
Experience with the da Vinci XI is required for the RN role.
First-time travelers may be considered if they have experience with the services provided by the facility.
Special Requests:
RTO requires manager approval.
Unit Details:
During a trial period starting 1/1/2027, the facility will collect data toward becoming a trauma center while acting as a Level 3 trauma center despite having no current trauma designation.
The OR averages 25-45 cases per day.
The OR's gynecology case mix includes hysterectomy, BSO, tubal ligation, LAVH, TVH, sling procedures, ablation, myomectomy, and hysteroscopy procedures.
General cases include breast and plastic surgery, vascular, laparoscopic, general oncology, genitourinary (GU), gynecology (GYN), and XI robotic cases.
Robotic cases include bariatric, hernia, gallbladder, and hysterectomy procedures.
Urology cases include cystoscopies, TURPs, and bladder cancer or tumor resections.
Orthopedic cases include total joint procedures involving the knees, hips, and shoulders, as well as fractures.
Podiatry cases include foot and ankle procedures.
The OR also handles plastics and cataract procedures.
ENT cases include tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy (T&A), sinus surgeries, and neck dissections.
Endoscopy cases include colonoscopy, EGD, ERCP, bronchoscopy, and EBUS; the unit is very heavy in endoscopy cases.
Total joint, endoscopy, and vascular surgeries make up a large portion of cases.
The OR uses a da Vinci XI surgical robot, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis for medication dispensing.
Shift & Scheduling:
Shifts each week will be two 12-hour days and two 8-hour days, with two 0630-1500 shifts and two 0630-1900 shifts.
RN call is a maximum of every other weekend and 1 weeknight per week, based on department needs; all call is subject to minor changes.
Weekend RN call runs from Friday 2300 to Monday 0630, and weeknight RN call runs from 2300-0630.
A call room is available, and the RN response time is 30 minutes.
Holiday expectations are call only.
The schedule cycle is every 4-6 weeks.
Floating Requirements:
During call, the OR RN could float to PACU on some nights to act as the second PACU RN; the RN would not be the primary RN and would not be expected to administer medications or perform charting.
