Travel Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Travel experience is preferred, but strong candidates without travel experience will be considered.

Required Credentials:

• No background hits.

Special Requests:

• Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained.
• Submission Limit: Cannot apply to more than one job order on the same unit and shift at the facility.
• Eligibility as Current/Previous Employee: Must disclose previous employment on your resume or elsewhere within the submission for a DNU check.
• Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.
• A limited amount of block scheduling will be approved.

Unit Details:

• Patient population includes strokes, stable neurological deficits, post-neurosurgery patients, and other Med Surg overflow.
• Common diagnoses and patient types include joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbations, prostatectomies, cellulitis, sepsis, orthopedic trauma, gastrointestinal bleeds, pneumonia, and failure to thrive.
• RNs titrate heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine drips.
• Common titratable or set-rate drips include PCA pumps.
• Telemetry technicians interpret telemetry; RNs should have some telemetry awareness.
• Mechanical lifts are available in every other room.
• The unit typically has multiple discharges and admissions in one day.
• The unit serves patients of all cultures, including Spanish, Karen, and Burmese.

Shift & Scheduling:

• At least every other weekend, but additional weekend shifts may be required based on unit needs and census.
• 2-3 holidays from Thanksgiving to New Years.

Floating Requirements:

• May float to other medical-surgical areas or units with MedSurg patients waiting for a MedSurg bed.
