Travel Nurse (RN) - PCU Float Pool

Required Skills/Experience:

• 1-2 years of experience required.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• RN experience with respiratory/vented patients strongly preferred.

Unit Details:

• Respiratory-focused, vent-dependent patients in a medical environment, not traditional Med/Surg.
• Most commonly supports the Respiratory Care Unit/Respiratory Step-Down Unit (ratios: D/E 1:9, N 1:12).
• Nurses do not manage ventilators; RTs handle vents.
• Nurse responsible for IV starts, drips, administering blood, EKGs, medication titrations, glucose monitoring, wound vac changes, complex and simple wound dressings, trach care, suctioning, straight cath, foley care, port access, central line dressing, and wound measurements.

Floating Requirements:

• Will also float to MRU/CMU - medically complex rehabilitation with cardiac monitoring (ratios: D/E 1:7, N 1:9).
• Will also float to TRU - TBI, medically complex chronic care (ratios: D/E 1:7-10, N 1:12).
• Will also float to Hartford Satellite Campus - medical, rehab, respiratory (ratios: 1:5-8, average is 6 or 7).
• Travelers will float based on weekly need; respiratory units have the highest demand.
• Float RNs will not be assigned to Pediatrics unless pedi-specific.
