Required Skills/Experience: Travel RNs must have ICU/Intermediate (Stepdown) experience with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 3:1 or 2:1; progressive care or telemetry is not adequate. Must have trach and vent experience.

Special Requests: Block scheduling may be requested.

Unit Details: 3:1 nurse-to-patient ratio. Patient population includes COPD, CHF, DM, sepsis, renal, DKA, alcohol withdrawal, overdoses, pneumonia, other respiratory conditions, and some neuro, surgical, and cardiac patients. Frequently cares for patients on BiPAP, CPAP, face mask ventilators, trachs, ventilators, chest tubes, G-tubes, NG tubes, PICC lines, and central lines. Titrates Cardene, Cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, heparin, and vasopressors if low dose or infrequent titration. Free charge nurse unless staffing is not ideal; house supervisor available 24/7. 2 PCTs per shift; if the unit is full, they cover 10 patients each. All patients are on bedside monitors and uses Phillips monitors; tele techs interpret strips and RNs confirm.

Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend; for day shift, weekends are Saturday/Sunday. Every other holiday rotation; will work the companion day of major holidays. No call.

Floating Requirements: Travel RNs are first to float. Can float to ICU if they have extensive ICU experience; otherwise may float to other Stepdown or General Medicine units. Will take the assignment required for that level of care, such as ICU 2 patients, Stepdown 3 patients, or Gen Med 5-6 patients.
