Preferred Skills/Experience:
Mother-Baby skills are preferred if nurses are available; training may be provided.
Unit Details:
The unit has one negative-pressure room and cares for babies up to 30 days old; it takes babies 32 weeks and above.
Patient ratios are 1:1 for CPAP, otherwise 1:2, and occasionally 1:3 for feeder-growers.
The unit does not have ventilators; ventilated babies are transferred. Equipment includes OGs, IVs, high-flow oxygen, CPAP, Panda warmers, and Giraffe warmers.
Care includes catching and transitioning babies at delivery, surfactant administration, occasional UVCs, and a few chest tubes; no surgeries are performed.
The unit is a Level 2 NICU and is working to expand its capabilities.
The unit handles 30–40 deliveries per month.
Floating Requirements:
The clinician primarily works in Mother-Baby and works in the NICU when NICU babies are present; the unit has approximately 50 NICU babies per year.
