Required Skills/Experience: Understanding of neuro, multi-trauma, and medically complex diagnoses; ability to complete a thorough chart review; understanding of lab values and weight-bearing precautions. Previous use of adaptive equipment for dressing, bathing, and self-feeding.
Preferred Skills/Experience: ICU experience preferred. Previous experience with mobility/lift systems preferred.
Preferred Credentials: OTD preferred.
Unit Details: Acute care OT role with no rehab aide support. Uses Sara Stedys, mechanical Stryker stroke/cardiac chairs, powered bariatric stroke/cardiac chair, powered ARJO and Liko lifts, ARJO mobility device, walkers, canes, wheelchairs, sliding boards, and adaptive equipment for dressing and bathing. Procedures include neuro re-education, ADLs/self-care, balance, transfer training, wheelchair training, cognitive re-education, BUE ROM/positioning, general strengthening, positioning, energy conservation, splinting, home safety, and family training. Same day surgery total joint and TAVR patients are prepared for discharge home; most are seen on day of surgery.
Shift & Scheduling: Alternate weekends. Schedule options: week one Wednesday-Saturday/week two Thursday-Saturday, or week one Sunday-Tuesday/week two Sunday-Wednesday. Start times vary between 7am and 8:30am; late ortho shift is 9:30am to 8pm. 1-2 late day ortho shifts per 2-week pay period. Required to help cover same day surgery ortho late and mid shifts Monday thru Friday. Schedule is generally 70.40 hours and may be adjusted to 80 hours if needed.
Floating Requirements: May be cross trained onto the acute rehab unit to help support the OT team on busy, low staffed days.
