Required Credentials: Pass/fail open-book unit exam on Friday during orientation; must score 90% to pass.
Special Requests: Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained. Cannot apply to more than one job order on the same unit and shift at the facility. Will approve a limited amount of block scheduling.
Unit Details: Med Surg Neuro - 4th Floor North. Cares for med/surg tele patients including strokes, stable neurological deficits, post-neurosurgery patients, and Med Surg overflow. Common patient populations/cases include joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, and failure to thrive. Titrate drips including heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine; PCA pumps are used. Tele techs interpret monitors; RNs should have some telemetry awareness. No RT equipment troubleshooting. Mechanical lifts available in every other room. High-turnover unit with multiple discharges and admissions in one day. Serves a culturally diverse patient population, including Spanish, Karen, and Burmese patients.
Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend required; additional weekend shifts may be required based on unit needs and census. 2-3 holidays required from Thanksgiving through New Year's.
Floating Requirements: Float to other medical-surgical areas or units with MedSurg patients waiting for a MedSurg bed.
