Travel Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical Unit

An interview with the unit manager may not be available prior to offer. If you do not interview with the unit manager, you may interview with a third-party clinical nurse manager.

Required Credentials:

• Associate degree or certificate required.

Unit Details:

• Post-surgical care includes recovery after PACU for pre- and post-surgical adult and geriatric patients.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 or 1:5 on day/PM shifts and 1:5-7 on nights.
• The fast-paced post-surgical unit averages 10-15 admissions per day, with the highest volume on day/PM shifts. Occupancy is 90-95% during the week, and average length of stay is 2-3 days except for joint patients.
• Equipment includes Rovers for medication scanning and Alaris pumps.

Shift & Scheduling:

• Variable day/night shifts: 7a-7p or 7p-7a.
• Every other weekend and holiday.
• No on-call. The contract is eligible for 36 hours of low-census unbillable hours; low census may occur in hour increments as needed, typically 4-hour increments, and a traveler may be asked to work only 4 or 8 hours of a shift. This is not considered on-call.

Floating Requirements:

• Floats to all inpatient units.
