Additional Details:
Required Skills/Experience: IR experience required. Scrubbing for IR, vascular, and pain procedures is mandatory. Proficiency with GE/Philips Azurion C-arm, portable C-arm, and contrast is required.
Preferred Skills/Experience: IV starts preferred.
Required Credentials: Candidate must successfully pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with a minimum overall score of 80% and a score of 100% on lethal rhythms. For DC locations – You must have DC license in hand, but certain units accept pending (See JD). MedStar will usually accept a later booking date if you have applied for DC licensure. For MD locations – You must have compact license or MD license.
Special Requests: References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years. Manager may or may not interview. Clinician must be okay with this. If clinician has questions, please email the AM. You must be able to complete labs within 48 hours of signing.
Unit Details: IR/Cath lab tech. Adult and geriatric patient population. Cases may occur in CT, X-ray, or at bedside; tech goes to the case location. Procedural types include tunneled catheter placements (mediports, permacaths, Hickman lines), embolizations, drain placements, suprapubic catheter placements, PEG tube placements, Pleurx catheter placements, epidural blocks, radiofrequency ablations, angiograms, thrombectomies, fistulograms, and IVC filter placements.
Shift & Scheduling: Mon, Tues, Thurs, & Fri 0700-1530; Wed 0900-1730. Every other holiday required. No on-call or weekends.
Floating Requirements: The tech is required to go to the area where the IR/Cath Lab case is occurring. (CT, Xray, Bedside) They would not float unless with the team for a case. Events of this have been very rare per the leader.
