Required Skills/Experience:

  • Floating experience does not count toward experience requirement.
  • RN experienced with scrubbing and/or circulating neuro, ortho, and trauma cases.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Scrubbing is not required for RNs, but is a bonus.

Special Requests:

  • Self-scheduling within reason; block scheduling not guaranteed.

Unit Details:

  • Uses Epic.
  • Neuro, ortho, trauma, cardiac, ex lap, and eye cases.

Shift & Scheduling:

  • Open to 8-, 10-, and 12-hour shifts for a total of 36 to 40 hours per week.
  • Weekend rotation. Travelers work 12-hour shifts on weekends in rotation with other staff and may also be asked to work 8-hour shifts during the week in rotation.
  • Weeknight call: 3-4 shifts per 4-week period.
  • Weekend call: 1 shift per 4-week period.
  • Call response time: 45 minutes.
  • All travelers are required to take the same amount of call as permanent staff and will be assigned a call center.
  • Center 1 and 2 call will change to circulator and tech call.
  • RNs may sign up in tech spots; however, if a tech cannot fulfill their requirement because too many RNs are in tech spots, an RN may be bumped so the tech can meet their requirement.
  • Call begins at the end of shifts ending at 3:30 PM and 5:30 PM. If a scheduled shift goes beyond 5:30 PM, the call hours past 5:30 PM will have to be covered by another call person. If not filled, those spots will be assigned in the same manner as other open call spots.
  • Neuro/Ortho: 3 weekdays per month (evenings or nights). 10 staff per month will have to take 2 weekend shifts, and all remaining staff will take 1 weekend shift. The staff who take 2 shifts will rotate each month.
  • Center 1: 3 weekdays per month (evenings or nights). 4 staff per month will have to take 2 weekend shifts, and all remaining staff will take 1 weekend shift. The staff who take 2 shifts will rotate each month.
