Travel Nurse (RN) - Step Down Unit

Required Skills/Experience:

• Recent Epic experience required.
• One travel assignment required.
• Tele/12-lead EKG interpretation required.
• Initiate and titrate drips, including antiarrhythmics, heparin, and insulin, required.
• Postsurgical assessment and care required.
• NIHSS/neuro assessments/dysphagia screening required.

Required Credentials:

• Associate degree or certificate.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Stable home vents, PleurX drains, pericardial drains, lumbar drains, VP shunts, and Narcan drips preferred.

Unit Details:

• Patient population includes cardiac cases (post-cath stents/interventions and pacers), CIWA/BH, sepsis, DKA, CVA, CPAP, feeding tubes, crani POD 2, GI bleeds, and hypothermic/bear hugger.
• Patient ratios are 1:3-4 on days and nights, 1:5 for med-surg, and 1:2 for the charge nurse.
• The unit has fantastic CNA support, very helpful charge nurses, and great teamwork.
• May require precepting of students and new hires.

Shift & Scheduling:

• Three weekends are required during every six-week schedule.
• Every other holiday is required.
• Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week, with 48-hour weeks upon request.
• Set hours are not available when the unit is closed for a holiday.

Floating Requirements:

• The clinician is first to float within their skillset.
• May float to Deaconess Midtown (IN) campus (8 miles) and potentially to Deaconess Henderson (KY) (11 miles).
• Two-hour notice is given for cross-campus floating.
• Mid-shift floating stays within the same campus; cross-campus mid-shift floating is unlikely but possible.
