Travel Nurse (RN) - Neurologic Intensive Care Unit

Required Skills/Experience:

• Comfort managing patients on the ventilator is required.
• Bedside shift report will occur on every patient with each transfer of care.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• One previous successful travel nursing assignment, preferably in a facility that used Meditech, is preferred.
• Experience with CRRT is preferred.
• Experience with advanced hemodynamics is preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience is preferred.
• Administering breathing treatments outside the ICU, including inhalers and nebulizers, is a preferred skill.

Unit Details:

• The unit is a mixed ICU.
• Patient ratios are 1:1, 1:2, and 1:3/4; the unit holds inpatient PCU/med-surg admissions.
• Equipment includes i-mobile phones for each care team member and mobile computer workstations on wheels.
• Procedures and cases include post-op day 0 CABG (fresh hearts from the OR), Impellas, balloon pumps, Swan-Ganz, advanced hemodynamics, neuro procedures for aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, EVDs, Codman bolts, and Arctic Sun for induced hypothermia.
• Travelers interested in becoming skilled Neuro ICU or Cardiovascular ICU nurses may receive training, including training to care for patients with head and neck flap procedures.

Shift & Scheduling:

• Schedule includes every other weekend and holidays in rotation with hospital employees.
• Flexible contract hours: 48 per week is an option.

Floating Requirements:

• Travelers are the first to float; any traveler could be sent to the emergency department or PCU to care for PCU or ICU holds.
