Travel Nurse (RN) - Step Down Unit

References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to.

Required Skills/Experience:
No first-time travelers. Must have one successfully completed assignment.
Floating experience does not count toward experience requirement. Correctional facility experience does not count toward experience requirement.
Travelers must have experience with amiodarone, cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, heparin, start nitro, and insulin drips.
Travelers need to read their own telemetry strips.

Preferred Skills/Experience:
Experience with TAVR and CABG preferred (core staff usually take).

Special Requests:
Travel pairs cannot request the same schedule.
Cannot have an employment gap in the past 4+ months.
Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained.
Start dates are not flexible.

Unit Details:
This unit has a cardiac focus.
Nurse-to-patient ratios: days 1:4; nights 1:5. Could have some mixed MS and PCU patients. 1:5 for all MS patients.
Common diagnoses/types of patients: CHF, NSTEMI, MI, heart block, pacer, TAVR, CABG day 2, recovers cath patients after sheath is pulled, Watchman, bradycardia, VT, general PCU overflow, respiratory failure, low BPs, low hemoglobin, sepsis, post surgical.
Charge nurse is usually free of assignment and may rarely take a couple patients.
PCAs: 8-12 patients per person, potentially less.
Uses BiPAP, high flow, and stable trachs.
There is a dedicated monitor tech on the unit.

Shift & Scheduling:
Flexible contract hours: 36 hours per week only; can pick up additional shifts.
Charge makes the schedule to balance unit needs and will take traveler requests into consideration.
Weekend requirement: 4 weekend days per month for nights (Friday, Saturday, Sunday).
Holiday requirement: 3/5 holidays.

Floating Requirements:
Floats to ICU within patient population and MS floors.
