If candidate worked a perm facility in the last 12 months, 1 reference must be from perm facility.
Eligibility as Current/Previous Employee: cumulative experience applies for previous travelers.
References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to.
Required Credentials: Must take and pass a cardiac rhythm exam.
Unit Details: Mainly 1:5-6 on days and nights on most units; once or twice a month could have 7 patients toward the end of the shift depending on acuity. Common patient populations include CHF, post-cardiac cath, chest pain, pneumonia, chronic renal disease, COPD, ortho, and oncology; permanent staff administer chemotherapy. Every unit has a charge nurse; day charge does not take patients, night charge does. All units use CNAs. CPAP and BiPap only; RT manages. Phillips monitors. Most units have monitor techs.
Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend (Sat/Sun). Work in the holiday rotation schedule with permanent staff.
Floating Requirements: The most frequent float units are 6N and 7N; other units include 4N, 5S, 6S, and Critical Care. Float Pool RNs report to the clinical coordinator's office prior to shift start for unit assignment. RNs could float to all 6 units but will most likely be assigned a parent unit and will only be assigned very basic telemetry patients within their scope of practice. They must be able to read and interpret strips but will not have to titrate drips.
