Required Credentials: ONCC certification accepted in lieu of ONS for Oncology RN roles.

Unit Details: General MedSurg and oncology population including neutropenic precautions, end-of-life/hospice, respiratory issues, pneumonia, swing-bed patients, altered mental status, and patients receiving chemotherapy. Ratios: 1:4 days, 1:5-6 nights; if giving chemotherapy, 1:1 during administration, then return to normal assignment. Skills/procedures include Foley insertion/care, peripheral IV placement/maintenance, bladder scans, NG tube placement/maintenance, chest tubes, trachs, wound care, central line/PICC/midline management, and port access. Uses Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis. Support includes CNA coverage 1:6 days and 1:8 nights, charge RN taking a patient assignment, phlebotomy for peripheral lab draws, hospitalist and respiratory coverage 24/7, SWAT RN support, IV/Vascular Access Team during the day, and centralized telemetry monitoring with tele techs.
Shift & Scheduling: Every 3rd weekend. No call. 1 summer and 1 winter holiday. RTO up to 7 days.
Floating Requirements: Could float within scope of practice at the hospital; most common float areas are Obs and MedSurg 4. Travelers float first.
