Travel Nurse (RN) - Oncology Clinic

Required Skills/Experience:

• Chemo administration experience and comfort administering chemotherapy agents are required.
• Peripheral IV, Port-a-Cath, and PICC line access skills are required.
• Strong assessment skills and comfort recognizing adverse reactions are required.
• Drawing blood from ports for labs is required.

Unit Details:

• This is an outpatient infusion/oncology unit located in the Same Day Surgery area.
• Patients are adults only; there are no pediatric patients.
• Patients include oncology cases, long-term IV antibiotics, injections, and blood and platelet infusions.
• Approximately 10 patients are seen per day; no chemotherapy patients are seen after 1400 or so.
• The oncologist is not in the clinic but is on site at the hospital and can respond if needed.
• Rapid response can be called, with a hospitalist/ED physician available to respond.
• The unit uses Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing.

Shift & Scheduling:

• Monday-Friday schedule.
• No weekend rotation.
• No call.
• The clinic is closed on major holidays.
• RTO: 7 days.
• The clinic closes at 1530, but may stay longer to finish infusions.

Floating Requirements:

• Will float to all three infusion centers: Christ, South Suburban, and Trinity.
