Required Skills/Experience:
Must have worked with Phase 1 and have good general surgical recovery experience.
Travelers with many years of inpatient nursing and only 1 year in PACU will be considered.
Limited endoscopy experience is acceptable; travelers without C-section experience will be considered.

Special Requests:
Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained.
The facility may make one-off exceptions if previously employed at the facility, but exceptions must be approved by St. Luke’s Health System.
Offer must be signed within 24 hours.

Unit Details:
Common cases include orthopedic total joints (inpatient and outpatient), sports medicine, orthopedic trauma, general surgery, gynecology, C-sections, and endoscopy, with occasional plastics and neuro/spinal cases. Pediatric cases include older pediatric patients for orthopedic trauma and some younger dental pediatric patients.
Nurse-to-patient ratios follow ASPAN guidelines.
The unit does not have an ICU; patients requiring transfer to a higher level of care or a ventilator are kept in the OR/PACU with the anesthesia provider until transport arrives.
All RNs are expected to learn how to clean/turn over their rooms and help with daily chores.
RNs read strips.

Shift & Scheduling:
Shift may be 5x 8-hour shifts or 4x 10-hour shifts.
Start times are from 6-8 am.
Self-scheduling is not offered.
Night call is scheduled from 6pm-7am, and staff are typically assigned 5-6 call shifts per month.
If assigned weekend call, staff have less weeknight call, and vice versa.
Weekend call is 24 hours per day from Friday at 6pm until Monday at 7am, assigned on a rotation basis.
Call may be assigned on a holiday during the contract.
On-call response time is 30 min; on-call staff must remain within 30 min of the hospital.

Floating Requirements:
Travelers will be assigned to pre-op, PACU (Phase 1 and Phase 2), pre-Endo, and post-Endo; these assignments are not considered floating but are an expectation to work in these areas.
