Required Skills/Experience:
Floating experience does not count toward the experience requirement. Correctional facility experience does not count toward the experience requirement.
Must have 5 years of experience working as Infection Prevention Manager in an acute hospital of similar size.

Unit Details:
Oversees the comprehensive infection prevention program for Onvida and all affiliated outpatient settings, including establishing and supervising systems for identifying, reporting, investigating, and controlling infections and communicable diseases among patients, visitors, and personnel.
Conducts infection prevention surveillance and investigations for all patients; routine surveillance follows the schedule approved by the Infection Prevention Committee or is rearranged to meet organizational priorities, and suspected problem areas are investigated in a timely manner.
Collaborates with Employee Health on influenza vaccination and tuberculosis screening programs, with a focus on reducing healthcare-associated infections and prioritizing goals through regular risk assessment.
Reviews current infection prevention literature and implements current standards and literature to reduce costs without increasing risks to patients and clients.
Serves as a hospital liaison with state and county health departments, works with Laboratory Services and other services, and participates in the APIC Grand Canyon Chapter.
Acts as a consultant to physicians, staff, patients, and the community regarding infection prevention.
Common diagnoses include healthcare-associated infections, device-related infections, and communicable disease.
Covers all acute hospital units and ambulatory settings.
Works with in-house hospitalists and intensivists; an ID provider is available but not very involved with this role at this time.
Uses NHSN infection prevention software.
Works closely with another IP RN daily on regular duties.
The first 30 days prioritize assessing the infection prevention program foundation, building relationships with frontline staff, and securing “low-hanging fruit” victories.
Survey readiness includes ensuring full compliance with DNV, CMS, and local DOH infection control standards.

Shift & Scheduling:
Flexible contract hours: 36 hours only (48 hours are not available); additional shifts can be picked up.
Monday-Friday with adjustable hours between 7AM and 5PM; early and late variability depends on organization needs.
May receive occasional questions by phone but will not be required to come in outside regular department hours.
No weekend requirements.
Attends the 915AM daily safety huddle.
RTO is limited to 5 days or less.
